welcome

We are the Dwight Lydell Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America (IWLA), one of the oldest conservation organizations in the United States.

We are part of a national organization that has been working to protect the environment since 1922.

Locally, we encourage you to be involved with nature, whether that’s in your personal world, or in the larger world of environmental issues. Activities might include fishing with kids, monitoring streams for insect life, promoting investigation of water pollution, educational programs about conservation, sustainability, and wildlife, or just going for walks for your peace of mind.

Lodge rental

As a member of our chapter you have access to nature’s wonders along the trails on our almost 40 acres. There’s Armstrong Creek, a pond, woods, and a native wildflower garden. Two pavilions and campfire areas are great for picnics or outdoor get-togethers, and there’s space for tent camping, too.

We have a community building, or lodge, where we hold dinners and meetings. It has a fireplace, commercial kitchen, and can be rented by members for events such as family gatherings, a birthday or graduation party, or craft-night with friends.

We love to get kids engaged with nature. We have a great place for campfires, camping, exploring, or attending special programs.

Popular Annual Events include:

WINTERFEST & SUMMERFEST, open to the public with many activities for kids!

We have Free Kids’ Fishing at our pond.

We want today’s youth to become interested in and learn about conservation issues, experience nature and all the wonder it has to offer.

Youth Programs

“Nature is a tool to get children to experience not just the wider world, but themselves.”

The Izaak Walton League of America – a non-profit conservation organization – is recognized as a Section 501(c)(3) public charity under the Internal Revenue Code

Nationally the Izaak Walton League of America is a diverse group of some 40-50,000 men, women and children, entire families dedicated to protecting our nation's soil, air, woods, waters and wildlife. Our strength lies in our grassroots, commonsense approach to solving local, regional and national conservation issues. Our interests span the spectrum of outdoor recreation and conservation activities, from angling and birding to stream monitoring, wildlife photography and hunting. But we all share one major goal: to protect and use sustainably America's rich resources to ensure a high quality of life for all people, now and in the future.

Since 1950, we have participated in nearly every major public lands victory.

Let’s meet up in real life to share in the beauty of the natural world.
